This is one of my favorite Flickr collages to date. For some reason this week I kept finding images in complimentary color schemes, so putting this together was a breeze. To me it makes me want to go stay in a cottage in the country, sleep in until ten, and spend my afternoons outdoors enjoying the warm Spring air.
I am a little disappointed, because this week has been so beautiful and warm, and the weekend is supposed to be overcast and considerably cooler. I really hope we can get at least one day of sunshine, as I would love to get out of the city and be surrounded by nature for at least a few hours.
Unfortunately I don’t have any links to share today. I have been away from the computer so much this week, and I really need to get caught up on my blog reading.
Happy Friday! Isn’t it just crazy to think it is already April?! We don’t do anything for Easter ever, but I do like to get outdoors and enjoy the absolutely beautiful Spring weather. I really want to get away this weekend, and maybe go out to the country (what little of it we have here!). I have been seeing so many bloggers posting outfit photos in lush green surroundings, and I am more than a little jealous.
Here are just a few little links I found interesting:
What a week this has been! It is really starting to look more and more like Spring, and I am pleased as pie. Speaking of pie, in the past two weeks I bought two new cookbooks all about pie making. I am obsessed, really, really obsessed! Yesterday I walked down to the market and bought several boxes of berries, which I plan on putting into a pie later this afternoon.
Friday again? I remember being a kid and time seemed to creep by at snail pace. Two hours when I was ten was about the equivalent of twelve hours today. Why is that? I fear it will only speed up more as time goes on.
This week has been pretty unmomentous (I thought that was a word, but my spell check says no). I have continued to work on unpacking and organizing our apartment, with a few breaks in between to work on a sewing project I started on Monday. We are pretty much at the end of the boxes–all the last things that were packed, which really means the stuff that never had a place to begin with….so finding a spot for it all now is taking longer than it should.
Anyhow, I am doing some entertaining tonight and tomorrow, so I really need to buckle down clean and try my hardest to get rid of the boxes laying around the house.
Here are some fun links to read through:
♥ Gertie posted some great inspiration for blouses in her post Design Ideas for Button Back Shirts. ♥ Though this hairstyle is meant for a wedding, I think it would be great for a cocktail party, or a summer luau. I can’t wait to try it when my hair gets a bit longer!
♥ Super Kawaii Mama revealed her Secrets to Perfect Skin.
♥ Casey posted a wonderful Guide to Sewing all about tools.
♥Mozzarella sticks? Yes please.
I really had planned on making a post yesterday, but spent so much time (several hours!) trying to reinstall adobe photoshop on my laptop, that the Etsy finds post I had planned never happened. I still haven’t gotten photoshop installed, and I can’t figure out what the deal is. I have always been a somewhat computer savvy person, but this is really making me think otherwise. I am computer retarded and internet savvy! It is an older disc, but it has worked on this laptop before, as well as on my desktop. For some reason I can’t get past the zip stage. I will unzip the file, it will say it was unzipped, but nothing happens! I know I was talking about picnik in my last post, but it was more of a fun thing to tinker with, but it is a bit on the slow side. I need my photoshop if I want to get any real work done!
Anyhow, here is some fun around the web:
♥ My hair is a bit long for these styles currently, and may be for a while, since I am considering growing it out again, but next time I cut it short again, I definitely want to try one of these styles on Mille Motts.
♥ Here is a great little tutorial from Apron Thrift Girl on how to make beeswax candles. Sounds like fun to me!
♥Cul-de-sac Shack posted this great little guide from the 1930’s about picking harmonizing colors for your home. I would love to have one of these from the late 1950’s!
Well, I hope everyone has a lovely Friday. I am going to go make some chai tea cupcakes for my dad and aunt, who shared a birthday last weekend, and are celebrating it tonight.
Friday already? I love these short weeks (for those of you outside the U.S., this past Monday was a holiday). I am continuing to work away at unpacking boxes and finding new homes for all our things. In my spare time I have been checking craigslist regularly for a sofa that I like. No luck yet, but I am also making a list of estate sales to visit over the weekend. I am beyond excited about going to some sales, it has been almost a month (since before the flood) since we last went.
Unfortunately I am not all the way caught up on my blog reading yet, so I don’t have any links to share, but at least you see the pictures I have been eying on Flickr!
Happy Friday! This has been a long week for me. Sometimes when I am out of school on break I forget how much I like having the extra outside stimulation. I am excited to get back to it in a few weeks. Even just two days a week at school make me more productive in all other aspects of my life.
I hope everyone has fun things to do this weekend. I am excited to get back to the estate sales tomorrow. Since the holidays where on Fridays this year, there were hardly any estate sales. Tomorrow will be a treat, there are tons!
Here are a few links I found interesting.
♥ This Sparkling Gin Punch sounds amazing, and really makes me want to throw a party.
♥ Pam at Retro Renovation posted about a new book called The Rockabillies. I don’t consider myself at all rockabilly, but I do want to get this book for the amazing mid century decor.
♥ If you liked my post full of thrifting tips then check out this post from The Thrifty Chicks with even more thrifty ideas.
♥ Gertie posted some really great information about preshrinking fabrics before sewing.
I hope everyone enjoyed their New Years festivities. Though I did not have as bad a year as many, I was happy to see 2009 end and 2010 begin. There is a lot I want to accomplish in the upcoming year, and I think this will be a very significant one in my life.
For me 2009 was a year of exploration. I learned a lot about myself, and really learned the advantages of balance and scheduling in my life. I never make New Years resolutions, as I am constantly trying to make positive changes when need be throughout the year, but there are quite a few things I would like to accomplish in 2010. One of the main things is my blog. I would really like to focus more time on the blog, and start sharing more things from my life; cooking, sewing, painting, etc.
Anyway, I would like to go on, but honestly am still feeling quite pooped from the New Years celebration we went to. Here are some fun and informative links to occupy your time:
♥ Feeling crafty and in need of some new shoes? Why not cover an old pair in fabric? The possibilities are endless–think of how cute these would be with a matching dress!
♥ Here are some great tips to get odors out of your amazing vintage bags.
♥ After following 50’s Gal’s blog for the past year, it was really great to see how her experiment affected her life for the better, and hear her reflect upon the differences between modern living and the ways of our grandmothers. She is also starting a great community up for like minded vintage ladies.
♥ This is an interesting little read about the future of vintage from Queens of Vintage.
On my former blog I used to do a weekly round up of favorite links and Flickr images I enjoyed, and want to start that up here. I always did them on Fridays, but seeing that I have no image posts to make for another week or so, I thought it would be good to do the first one now!
I hope everyone’s weekend is wrapping up nicely. Christmas is a mere five days away (or four if you are reading this on Monday!). It always sneaks up so quickly. This year, unlike years past I did quite a bit of shopping earlier in the year, throughout October and November. It is quite a nice feeling knowing that I only have one to two gifts to buy still!
♥ Odds are you haven’t had enough sweets yet this holiday season. If you have the baking bug like I do, these peppermint meringues look amazing!
♥50’s Gal posted a nice little post about manners, the importance of them, and how much times have changed.
♥ This is an interesting little article from Beauty is a Thing of the Past about how the complexity of creating the ‘easy look.’
Well I hope everyone who celebrates Christmas is close to completing there shopping, and all of you on the East coast of the US are staying nice and warm through the storm.
