Hello all! Firstly I would just like to apologize for my unannounced blog break. I probably should have said something, but I didn’t. Oh well. I have recently realized just how much time I waste spend online, and have been trying to cut back on the time I spend in front of a screen.
That’s my story. More regular blog posts will now resume.
***This post was lost in a recent server change, luckily I had the post backed up, unfortunately I lost all the comments. ***
I usually prefer not to make so many posts in a row about the same thing, but I think it is clear that I am obsessed. I can’t stop buying dishes. Every trip to the thrift store in the past two weeks has resulted in more plates, glasses, and serving dishes. Luckily the cost of all of the following together was right around $10….so my dish addiction is still under some sort of control!
I found this amazing Mikasa Light ‘n Lively serving platter yesterday. There is a small chip on the underside which is totally noticeable from the top. For $1.50 I can live with a chipped Mikasa dish!
Some colorful and fun floral juice glasses.
Snowflake Pyrex casserole dish.
This Pyrex pattern is probably my favorite. I had a small nesting bowl in the past, but it was the one thing that broke during our move. I can’t even tell you how happy I was to find this set. Eventually I want to get the two larger bowls that these nest inside.
I can’t stop daydreaming about lovely Spring days spent lounging and enjoying the sun. Though it is in no means cold here in San Diego, we have had rain every weekend for weeks—and it really is only on the weekends! I am sick of this gray overcast weather. I want sunshine and short sleeved dresses!
According to the news it is supposed to heat up in the beginning of next week–and I plan on getting outdoors to celebrate. On Tuesday a girlfriend and I are going to go out in the wilderness somewhere (there isn’t much of it close by!) and taking pictures in vintage clothes. I can’t wait. Having been raised in the country and now living in the city, I sincerely miss nature. I see far too little of it on a daily basis, and really crave trips to the mountains.
What are you looking forward to with Spring’s arrival?
I absolutely despise beginning each post with an apology for the lack of frequent blog updates, but when I go this long I do feel bad about not updating my wonderful followers, as well as not keeping up to date on all the fantastic blogs out there!
Saying I have been busy is a bit of an understatement. Not only did I have a final research project due in my English class (plus a presentation!) resting on my shoulders, but it seems as though all the holiday parties fell over the past two weekends. Since my birthday passed about a week ago, I also decided to try and throw a small cocktail party into my already hectic schedule.
Anyway, enough excuses. As of today I am done with classes for the semester. I can’t wait to get back to all the things I have been putting off–sewing, painting, thrifting, reading, going to the gym, oh yeah and blogging!
I hope everyone is staying nice and warm and enjoying the Holiday season thus far. If you are anything like me, you never get sick of holiday songs, just certain singers who sing them poorly! Here is my favorite lady singer.
A very warm hello to all the new visitors and followers that made there way over here from Sew Retro this past weekend!
I joined and made my first post on Friday, and have gotten the most wonderful feedback from readers. It is such a fun community full of so many incredibly talented ladies (and maybe men too?). Just browsing the pages and looking at other people’s sewing projects is really inspiring.
This week is going to be crazy for me, as I am sure it will be for everyone else that lives in the US, as we all need to prepare for Thanksgiving. I am going to try my very best to update regularly this week, so expect to see a lot of baking around here!
Here is a funny little vintage Thanksgiving commercial that I just love.
Just wanted to let everyone know about the fantastic giveaway. How amazing is this bracelet!?
To sign up for multiple chances to win go to Tales of a Retro-Modern Housewife. While you are there don’t forget to check out the back posts. There really is some wonderful information!
Well I had hoped to post a picture of the beautiful carrot cake I made today, but things went South, and it didn’t turn out quite as beautiful (though still tasty!) as I had hoped.
Instead I will make a post about the soft rollers I got. Sunday I went to the beauty supply store to pick up a new can of hairspray. While I was there I was found myself browsing, as always, looking for the next thing to make my hair look incredible. I ended up buying two bags of soft twist rollers.
I used to own some of these when I was a child, way back when. My mom would curl my hair with them for special occasions, like ballet performances. I picked them up thinking they might be slightly easier to sleep on than pin curls. Well, they weren’t horribly uncomfortable, but I could only lay my head in certain directions on the pillow.
Despite the fact that I had a slight stiff neck when I woke, I absolutely loved the results. I guess beauty truly is pain. I apologize for the poor lighting, the sun had started going down when I took this, and my apartment has about as much light as the bat cave.
I ended up pinning one side of my hair back with a vintage clip I bought recently at a thrift store.
Now I just need to work on figuring out a placement of the rollers that make it more comfortable and natural to sleep in.
Hello and welcome to my newest blogging venture, The Vintage Wife.
This blog is going to be a place where I can share my obsessions with vintage style, culture, and music, as well as ventures I take in my own life to lead a more vintage life style.
Though I consider my views quite liberal, I live and prefer to live in a very old fashioned manor. On these pages you are likely to find everything from fashion, to my newest etsy obsessions, links I love, my recent home decor ideas, or recipes from last night’s dinner.
Unlike previous blogs I have written for I am doing this one purely for myself. I hope that it will encourage me to become more focused on the things I love to do, as well as help me grow towards becoming the person I strive to be. At the same time, I do love readers, and love interacting with you, so please, please leave a comment to introduce yourself!
