Vintage Maternity at 31 Weeks

vintage maternity at 31 weeks pregnant

We are back from the most wonderful (though entirely too short) vacation. I will share some photos from our trip in the coming days, but until then, here is my quickly expanding belly in one of my most comfortable 1950s maternity tops. As comfortable as it is, I think it may only accentuate how enormous I have grown. Modern day maternity tops seem to downsize the belly a bit—which after three days of people asking me if I am having twins or commenting that the baby must be coming any day (no, I still have TWO whole months!), I may be living in my stretchy modern maternity ware for the next few days.

My shoes are from Remix Vintage, they are the most pricey shoes I own, but boy the money was worth it. I bought them last year and because of the cost (I had to save up for this pair!) I was a little hesitant to wear them other than for special occasions. I decided just before we left for vacation that that was a ridiculous idea, and I should enjoy them as much as possible. So I have. These shoes are so comfortable, there was no “breaking in” stage, the leather is so soft, and I did a fair amount of walking in them with no discomfort. I am so glad I got over my fear of ruining them….though now I want more of their lovely shoes!

It’s a lovely maternity top, and you look incredibly classy in this outfit. I do, however, feel the same way about this style of top when I wear them. I suppose that the third trimester just isn’t a time for looking svelte, at least we can look elegant and glamorous!

Hi Cedar! You look absolutely beautiful. Is that the Madonna Inn in the first picture? If so, were you able to make it to the Avila Barn while you were in the area? Thursday night Farmer’s Market in San Luis Obispo? I love California so much! It’s nice getting to see places I know through your pictures. It’s a taste of home every time I visit your blog. Thanks.

Yes, it is the Madonna Inn! We left Thursday morning, so unfortunately couldn’t make it to the farmers market, but I hope to next time we make it up there. I hadn’t heard of the Avila barn, but I just googled it, what fun! I will also be adding that to our list of things to do on our next visit! :)

I thought so! Oh, I thought I had mentioned Avila Barn to you before; it must have been someone else. Well, now you have another reason to visit the area again. Both the Farmer’s Market and Avila Barn are worth a trip back. Plus, in my opinion, Avila Barn is best to visit in the Fall. The Fall decorations are beautiful – pumpkins galore! They have a hay ride out into their fields so you can pick your own pumpkins if you want. They have u-pick throughout the various seasons as well. Also, if they still do it, they put up a hay maze. It’s such a beautiful time of year there.

You look great, and those shoes are too cool to let them collect dust in a closet!! But yeah, I wore a really neat 50s smock top in my third trimester and realized that I looked like a circus tent, but what can you do but own it and work it, amirite??
