Starting the Bow-Tied Blouse

Well, sorry for another long absence. My excuse this time around is a broken computer (again!). Every time I have computer issues I seriously consider swearing off all technology, or you know, switching to a Mac. I have had nothing but bad luck with the past three computers I have had.

Over the past week, when I wasn’t too busy cursing this blasted machine, I was sewing. I recently bought Gertie’s book; Gertie’s New Book for Better Sewing. I have been reading it and referencing it quite regularly, and it has really inspired me. There are ten patterns included in the book (here is a sneak peak from her blog), and I thought I would start with the bow-tied blouse.

I really haven’t done much on it yet, and quite honestly I may start and finish some more projects before I get around to finishing this one (Lucy’s Halloween costume is the priority right now, eek!). I always seem to have 15 thousand projects going at once. Anyway, I traced this blouse, cut it out, and with the help of Gertie’s book as well as this one I learned how to do a full bust adjustment. Silly that I am just now learning to make pattern alterations, seeing as I have made garments for myself before. Though, this probably explains why I only wear things once or twice and hide them away forever.
