Weekends are Cool.

This has been the best kind of weekend.

I finally found the perfect piece of furniture for my sewing room. It was in good time, I had piles of messes everywhere and was so close to breaking down and buying some Ikea furniture. I waited and continued to search the thrift shops. On Friday I found this beautiful Broyhill dresser for a bargain. It has got to be one of my favorite thrift store finds of all time. It is perfect for organizing knitting patterns, sewing patterns, sewing notions, various projects, etc. Since this stuff is no longer in piles on the floor I am finally able to use my craft room.

These recent craft room developments encouraged me to (finally) finish sewing doll clothes for Lucy’s baby. I started them shortly after thrifting the doll while I was pregnant, but it took a year and a half to finish. Lucy has taken quite a liking to this little doll that we bought for a quarter. Any time I say the word baby, she runs around the living room looking for her doll and will carry her around giving her kisses on her head. Total heart-melt moment.

As I mentioned already, this has been a good weekend. The best part? My husband made dinner tonight. Every now and then he will grill alongside whatever I put together in the kitchen, but he hasn’t made us dinner on his own for seven years or so. This is mostly because he works and I don’t, as well as my love for cooking (and quite honestly, I’m a bit of a control freak). It was quite a treat though, I picked out a recipe from my new cookbook (Super Natural Every Day by Heidi Swanson)  that I have been wanting to try, and he made it. It was a lentil soup with curry, coconut milk, and browned butter. It was amazing, and I think I may start handing off the cooking duties a little more often.

That is a beautiful dresser! Is it bad that I want to see how you’ve organized the inside? I’m always looking for new and improved ways to store my knitting books so I love to see how others store theirs.

That soup looks and sounds delicious! And it’s always so nice to have someone else make you dinner when you’re usually the chef.

Those doll clothes are amazing and that definitely sounds like a heart-melt moment! I’m glad you had such a lovely weekend!

Not at all bad! I haven’t really gotten the dresser organized to my liking yet, but if I do, I will post some pictures. The inside does have shelves which I currently just have all my knitting patterns and sewing books stacked on.

Great thrift store find! Doesn’t food always taste so great when someone else makes it? The handmade doll clothes are precious!
