It’s been a struggle these past weeks to find things to blog about. The days are long and hot and there seems to be no relief from it after the sun falls. The little free time I have at the end of these days is best spent laying in front of the fan in my underwear and daydreaming about the weather cooling, the leaves falling from the trees, a rainy day, anything.

I somehow managed to start knitting a 1970s cowichan sweater for (our wimpy) winter. I am sincerely hoping that making this cool weather item will make the temperature drop. That is how it works, right?

The one thing I do love about our summer is the food (who doesn’t?). The eating has been good, though I haven’t been good about documenting it (I am slightly afraid the camera will melt my face if I use it for too long). As happens every summer, I can not get enough tomatoes. Or cucumbers. Or okra. Or basil. Or berries. Sometimes I do actually love summer.

For me it’s the zucchini and spinach I can’t get enough of.

It’s been so hot that just being alive feels effortful. I fully endorse the fan-underwear-dreaming combo.

Yum! I have okra from my CSA now, too, and I’m trying to figure out how best to prepare it…

Where did you get your reusable veggie mesh bag?

I bought them a year or two ago at our local health food store.
