Singing to Baby
Hello there! Long time no post, I know. I am chugging along at this whole unpacking thing. My house is still rather chaotic and updating my blog has fallen pretty low on the list. I expect that to change after this coming weekend. Russ has a three day weekend, so we can get a lot done around the house as well as have time to relax a little. I can’t wait.
Anyway, I thought this would be a fun post. I sing a lot around the house and I sing a lot to Lucy. Sometimes I will make up silly little songs with her name in it, and other times I will sing actual songs. I realized there are a few I sing more than others. Here are our top songs.
These are a few of my favorite things (I can’t imbed this one in the post)
And occasionally I will sing her this, though I seldom get very far since I can never remember the lyrics.
Now I want to know from you other mamas out there what (if) you sing or sang to your babies?

I sang Que Sera to my first daughter a lot. One of her toys played the song so I’d sing along and it became a song that seem to always calm her down so I ended up singing it a lot. Plus, I love the lyrics! I make up a lot of songs for them though. I hope they remember that as they grow up.

My husband made up all the songs he sang to our babies, but I stuck with old school ones like “You Are My Sunshine” and “A Bicycle Built For Two” and “Take Me Out To The Ballgame.” My mom sang these songs to my sisters and I, and we in turn sing them to our kids. That’s actually pretty helpful for sleepovers, because I’ve only been stumped once by song request from a nephew. The Barney song apparently is not his famous I love you, you love me song. I still have no idea what my nephew wanted!
The song I sing now for myself (and any teenagers who happen to be around) is Que Sera Sera. Doris Day is awesome and that song is my favorite.

I always sang “Cheek to Cheek” (heaven… I’m in heaven….) while holding my baby boy’s cheek next to mine. He’s 7 now and still loves to put his cheek to mine ♥

We named our daughter Ruby – so any of the existing songs named for her!
Also, just read your post about having beautiful clothes but nothing to wear due to breastfeeding. I’m finding the same is true for myself. I finally just broke down and bought nursing tanks and long cardigans. So much for staying vintage at this point!

With my son, now 5(!), I found one of the only things that would calm him was me signing Amazing Grace. My daughter, 10 months old, used to calm down when I’d sing old Emmylou Harris songs.
