Lucy at 21 Weeks
This will be the last week I post these weekly photos of Lucy. Since before she was born I have had this ongoing debate in my head about whether or not I should post her photos online. I definitely want to share her with all of you, my lovely readers, but I also want some things to be private. I don’t want her to feel when she is older that mama shared her entire childhood and all of our precious family photos and memories with whoever would read it. I do feel that if she wants to share her life with people she should do it on her terms, it is up to me to keep that private until she can make that decision on her own. Anyhow, the time has come. While I may post the occasional photo, these weekly pictures are ending (at least in the online world). I do plan on continuing with baby or parenting related posts or updates when it seems appropriate.

I go over the same debate in my head weekly. At first I wasn’t even going to post my baby’s picture on my blog, but I saw so many other moms were doing it and what’s a mommy blog without photos of my baby? But besides the huge fear that I’m sharing the most precious person in my life with complete strangers who could be viewing for bad reasons, I also miss the days of NOT sharing everything in my life before all these new social networking sites started popping up. Sometimes I just feel “over-exposed”, if you will.
So to wrap all that up – I know exactly what you mean and don’t blame you. I just want to tell you one more time how cute she is! Your blog title drew me to your site but her pictures captured me
She’s such a beautiful baby and the outfits you put her in are adorable – it all makes me hope I have a baby girl next time!

It is a tough debate, and I too feel like I was a little bit influenced on other mom’s decisions to share their children online. I mostly want to do this so that when Lucy is older she can decide how much of her life she would like to share.
Not to spook you any more, but another blogging mama recently found out that someone had been stealing photos of her daughter for the past year and a half, and posting them in a blog as if she were their child. That really made me want to stop sharing pictures online even sooner than I had already planned. I also plan on watermarking the images I do post, to discourage something like that from happening.

OH MY GOD. I’ve done been spooked again, that is CREEPY. How did she find out?
A few days before I read this post of yours, another blogger copied and posted a search that someone had typed in that somehow led them to her blog, and it said “photos of little girls with thermometers in the butt”. She doesn’t even have any daughters so I don’t know how that person was led to her blog but it just made me think about all the possible pervs who may like to browse these blogs that show pictures of our children, and even though they may be fully dressed, they may just like LOOKING at them, you know?
Uggh…hoping that I’m just over-paranoid on that. Yeah watermarking is a smart idea. I hadn’t even thought about someone doing what they did that other mama blogger…so many weirdos out there.

Really, just weigh the pros and cons. There is no right or wrong thing to do, just what is right for your family.

I was just thinking how in the last week and this post, she’s starting to look less like a baby and more like a little person.
So I can understand why you want to stop now… she’s definitely growing out of the could-be-anonymous-baby stage and into an easier-to-recognize little human! Still freaking adorable, though.

Hi! I was just looking through your blog, and noticed this picture! Your daughter is adorable. The crazy thing is, I have that exact same dress! In fact, it is the dress I was brought home from the hospital in (almost 30 years ago)! It’s a small world, isn’t it?
