Week 23 (and a half)

By Cedar | January 4, 2011

I mentioned the other day that I wanted to start taking, and sharing, weekly pregnancy photos. So, here I am at week 23 (and a half, since my week starts on Saturdays). I think this is the last week I will be able to fit into this dress, it is feeling pretty snug. I am feeling really huge, but yesterday at the doctor I was reassured that I am measuring right on track.

Please ignore the Christmas tree (and the one lonely present still under it!) in the background, that was supposed to come down over the weekend, but hasn’t yet. Hopefully today or tomorrow I can get it packed up.

aww, you look super cute! Isn’t that a bummer about clothes getting tight! I just had to go through my whole closet and shove a bunch of stuff to the back until after the baby is born. As time goes on, My “wearable wardrobe” is getting smaller! :( I still wear a lot of my pre-pregnancy skirts, I just wear the waist over the top of my belly. Do you have a Once Upon a Child store near you? If so, do check it out! I bought a ton of super cute maternity pants there for about $5 per pair. I found some capris and wide leg pants that work really well with vintage fashions. Good luck with your little peach! xoxo

    Hello Dear!
Fondest congratulations from one vintage housewife to another! A baby girl is a beauty and a wonder!
Have you noticed that most women who do vintage don’t have kids? We have 4, including our coming baby boy. It is possible and fun to live w vintagey life with kids.
About doctors; Feel free to be as demanding of your care as you please! this is yours and your baby`s health and you have a right to good service. Afterall, Dear, the medical industry is a service industry and you’re allowed to shop around for good treatment if need be. I am a complete you-know-what when it comes to caring for my children’s health.
    Apologies for the tangent!
Anyhow, if you’d like to chat about vintage living with kids, I am always here to help! A lot of friends live vintage at specific decades, but I sort of hover between the forties and fifties. One of my fave maternity tricks is to wear dresses a couple of sizes bigger until those last couple of months when you really need blousey clothes. A good visual reference would be the zombie spoof film “Fido”. Carrie-Anne Moss’s wardrobe is really just upsized period dresses. I do what my grandmother did: steal my husband’s pants! I roll the cuffs in fifties fashion and wear with saddle shoes I got for $18 at payless.
    Hope all of this helps!
Happy wishes for your coming motherhood!
